Weekend gateaway and a mini adventure
Having spent a few weeks away at university, my next visit home was due. One of the best things was coming into the arrivals area at the airport and seeing the smile on my mom's face when she saw me. I instantly gave her and my dad a big hug and felt so blessed. Coming home, I was given theusual treat which was my mom making all my favourite dishes including my favourite Pakistani dish Biryani. It was great to see everyone and have a catch up with my siblings how they have been.
The next day my sister decided to take me for the day with her to a barbeque party arranged by students from Loughborough university (in Leicester) collaborating with students from her university (Birmingham). Initially I wasn't sure about going because I was only home for the weekend and wanted to relax with my whole family instead of spending a whole day of extra travelling. However now I am so glad I had pushed myself and gone with her.
It was just me and her in the car and during the journey we played a range of music to makes things more interesting including 90s music, Disney music and even movie OSTs. I had only expected us to be travelling straight to the barbeque but to our surprise when we reached loughborough, the town had a sign for a Mount St Bernard Abbey. My sister knowing I was a lover of English heritage and the countryside decided to drive me there via a scenic country route. I played the most magical music I could access which were different movie soundtracks such as Narnia. We both had an amazing drive enjoying the music and taking in the views. Once we reached the Abbey, we were so happy to see all the greenery and gardens surrounding a stunning small church. We took a few moments just to take in the beautiful views and get some photos for memories. We even managed to buy some fresh rhubarb and handmade chocolate. After that we continued our country journey and headed for Loughborough university for the barbeque.
We both got there and at first neither of us were that excited but we both decided to stay and support the event and introduced ourselves to the organizers. The barbeque was freshly made and we took our seats and ate as well while talking to different people. I was mostly attached with my sister until after about an hour when I saw some cute Malaysian girls who I wanted to talk to. We waited together in the queue for food and were instantly chatting but it wasn't until I sat with them myself that I realized how much we had in common. I was very interested in their country and they were happy to give me insight into their country and culture. We also all had an interest in the Korean and Japanese culture and wanted to travel the same countries such as Indonesia, Japan, South Korea and China.
I even suggested we travel together in the future and they all agreed! We now have a WhatsApp group and keep in touch. Of course I spoke to many other lovely people and the environment was so comfortable and family friendly. The journey there and the friends I made had made all the extra travelling worth it. Alhamdulillah for a wonderful day!
I spent the rest of my weekend just relaxing with my family which included a nice family dinner out to our favourite restaurant Toro's steak house.

I was sad to have to leave home but even when I left, my mom made me a delicious bowl of her special oats for the day of travelling ahead back to Bulgaria. It was a great ending to my weekend home.
Alhamdulillah (thank you God) for everything
